One-of-a-kind collector-worthy necklace. A fascinating piece of agatized/fossilized dinosaur bone from the Morrison Formation, a late Jurassic geologic formation in the Western US, has been cut into this freeform shape and polished to highlight the intricate cell structure. I've paired it with a vintage sterling silver dinosaur charm and strung them on two similar but mismatched chains. Built to hand down. All components are sterling silver. My maker's mark is on the backside.
Dinosaur Bone: 38x20mm
Necklace length: 18.5"
Will arrive gift-boxed.
Dinosaur bone is a rare and visually striking fossil formed through a process called permineralization. Over millions of years, the porous internal structure of dinosaur bone becomes infused with silica-rich minerals such as agate, chalcedony, or jasper. This slow mineral replacement preserves the intricate cellular patterns of the original bone, often producing vivid colors and web-like structures that shimmer when polished. The result is a fossil that is not only scientifically fascinating but also visually captivating.
